There are a multitude of benefits achievable by using solar heating and power products. These range from environmental through to financial.
Householders can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by installing solar water heaters. Where these systems qualify under the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 , the owner can benefit financially.
To simplify the inclusion of solar water heaters (SWHs), including heat pump water heaters, under the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target, the number of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) that can be claimed for eligible systems has been calculated by the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator and is referred to as the system's REC entitlement.
Renewable energy certificates for both solar water heaters and small generation units may be either created and traded by the owner of the system, or assigned to an Agent. You may assign your right to create certificates to an Agent in return for some benefit to you, such as a rebate or price reduction. In this case, the Agent will create and own the certificates.
The REC value that is applied to an ORER approved hot water system is related to the number of Megawatt hours of energy that the system saves over 10 years. For example, a REC value of 44 = 44 Megawatt hours saved over 10 years, or 4,400 kWh saved per year. @ 14 cents per KWh the annual savings would be $616.00.
To determine the annual savings associated with any of our hot water systems, the following formula can be used:
REC value
10
|
x 1,000
|
= kWh per year x $0.14 (or actual cost per kWh) = $ saved per year |
Conergy systems achieve high REC values and The TS and Split systems carry a 5 year warranty. The expected lifespan of these systems is 15 years.

Environmental
- Low cost heating and maintenance costs
- Solar hot water is generated 24 hours per day - but with a reduction in capability overnight and during cold/cloudy weather
- Patented systems that operate in a wide range of weather conditions. Systems can extract heat energy
- Solar hot water systems generate hot water from the ambient air (as low as -10°C) and can heat water to +70°C
- Reduced C02 emissions and demand for electricity. And that means the need for electrical infrastructure to service communities is lessened
- Very effective in areas where mains power availability is limited
- Ease of installation
- Product range covers small domestic households to systems that can heat large buildings or complexes.
